How to finance your boat

VAT: You have several option to pay less VAT :

• buy your boat as an individual, put you boat Under French flag and pay 50% less VAT !
• buy your boat as a company for representation purposes and do not pay any VAT! You save 17% on your boat purchase.

There are various leasing constructions where you only pay VAT on the residual value after expiry. The financing can be paid off by putting the yacht under charter management.

Types of financing:

• Ship mortgage (a long period, usually 20 years)
• Leasing (period usually 5 years)
• 2nd mortgage on real estate goods
• Personal loan, depending on your income
• Leasing in combination with Charter Management
• Shared ownership

Leasing and Charter Management :

When financing by a leasing combined with charter management, a 30% down payment is required. The monthly rates are paid off by the income (65%) you get from hiring out your yacht. All the additional expenses such as insurance, berth and maintenance costs can also be paid from your charter income.
